Can I use this Dexen electronic control without a remote control? I don't see any button to start the pilot.

This part is a control module only and does not have the full ignition kit with valve, pilot, etc. You can see one such kit here.

It is possible. We would recommend a service technician perform a thorough cleaning and inspection. This routine should be performed 1-2 times per year. The inspection may uncover other pressure or wiring issues as well.

My fireplace is a "Heat n Glow" Escape-36DV. My pilot lights, but the fireplace will not ignite. I cleaned the pilot assembly with sand paper. This worked for about 10 minutes, then fireplace went out. I also replaced the assembly last year. Would this module be what I need to solve my problem?

I have a Dexan GM-6KA controller that will not light the pilot. Someone helped me test the power and there is no power to the pilot [orange] cable. How do I know it's the cable vs the controller?

A multi-meter that has the ability to test continuity through a wire must be procured and then used to test continuity at both ends of the harness. Excessive or infinite resistance or an open circuit indicates the wire itself is bad.

I'm afraid not. We too have tried to locate a replacement control module for the 8K series, but it seems the manufacturer did discontinue it with no replacement. I apologize for the inconvenience.
