Do you have to use the remote to operate the Lasko 20-inch fan?
No, the remote is an added convenience and not required for operation. The Lasko 20 Inch Pedestal Fan with Remote features manual controls on the front of the unit, allowing full operation without the remote. The power button controls on/off, the speed button cycles through the four speed settings, and the timer button sets the automatic shut-off. Oscillation is controlled by a knob on top of the motor housing: push the knob down for side-to-side head movement and pull it up to keep the head stationary. The remote simply replicates the power, speed, and timer functions for ease of use from a distance.
