from Pekin il asked:
I have a see-through gas fireplace that doesn't work. I want to replace the gas insert with an electric insert. Do you offer this type of service?
We are sorry, but we are an online-only retailer and do not offer installation services or labor, including removing a gas unit and installing an electric insert. We recommend contacting a local NFI certified hearth professional or certified chimney sweep, who can handle this type of installation and inspect your existing see-through firebox at the same time. You can find certified professionals near you at nficertified.org. Once you have a local provider, we are happy to help you choose an electric unit. Just let us know whether you plan to remove only the gas burner or log set or the entire fireplace, along with the width, height, and depth of the opening, and we can suggest options that fit.

from MS asked:
Does this heat both sides of the room?
This is a see-through firebox, so the fire is visible from both the front and back. As a vent-free unit, it releases heat into the room, and you can get some heat from both sides. In our experience, see-through units are best considered decorative rather than a dependable supplemental heat source, as some heat stays in the wall enclosure between the rooms.
