When shipped freight, the shipping weight is 71 lbs, which, when you eliminate the pallet from consideration, would indicate that this mantel is approximately 30-40 lbs in weight.

Will this work for Superior 42" 4500 Series smooth faced. WRT4542RH
No, this mantel would be positioned only 12" above the opening on the WRT4542 model, and the WRT4542 requires at least 18" of clearance to a mantel above the fireplace opening. We do not offer a mantel with sufficient interior height for that clearance.

Would I be able to mount this surround to rock?
As long as the rock surface is relatively level, you can indeed anchor the wall cleat to the surface of the wall, using masonry anchors and fasteners.

Can this mantel be easily cut to adjust its height?
It is indeed possible to trim the legs of the mantel to adjust their overall height. Depending on how much is removed, you may loose some detailing, but the structural integrity of the mantel will not be affected.
