On the 60, what does it measure from point edge to edge? I have a corner fireplace and need to make sure the points don't hit the wall.

For the 60" shelf, the longest point of the shelf will measure right at 60", give or take a fraction of an inch due to variances in the manufacturing process.

Is this mantel paintable?

Absolutely. Before applying paint or stain to your wood mantel, we suggest that you lightly sand it followed by wiping it down with a damp cloth. When painting, we suggest using 2 coats of a stain-blocking primer.

The top shelf depth of this mantel is 10 inches, which may not be enough to support a stand for a television. The weight issue depends on how well the mantel shelf is anchored into the wall and, of course, the weight of the television.

The Crestwood comes in only black or white. You most likely would have to sand the mantel to stain it again. We also have mantels of a similar look offered in "unfinished" on the site.

Can I install this mantel over stone?

The hanger board can be mounted to masonry by using plastic anchors and coarse thread screws. The anchors and screws are usually purchased as a kit. A masonry bit and drill will be needed to bore into the masonry, allowing you to slide the anchors into place and then screw through the anchor board and into the anchors.

The mantel is partially hollow in the back, but has a mounting block that is part of the center of the shelf, which enables it to hang on a wall cleat. Because of that block, it may not cover any bricks that project from the wall.

We wanted to replace the existing mantle that was above our fireplace in the house we recently bought. It was very small and stained a brown color.
