Can I install a TV over my gas fireplace with a shelf between the fireplace and the TV to protect from heat damage?
Yes, provided the television does not project over the front of the mantel shelf. You will also need to verify the mantel clearance requirements for the specific fireplace, if applicable.

The current mantel has heat resistant paint, but it peels and is 12 inches above the linear fireplace box. What is different about your paint finish?
The current mantel may not meet the fireplace manufacturers' clearance. Some linear fireplaces require up to 24" before a mantel can be installed. High heat can cause the paint to peel and bubble. Pearl mantels are all factory finished by hand. As long as the clearances are maintained, the mantels will withstand the heat.

What is this product made of? My mantle is 66-inches and would like to cut 4 inches off of the 70-inch mantle?
The manufacturer does not list the materials used in this mantel, probably because there is a patent-pending on this noncombustible mantel shelf. It should not be cut to alter the length, and, unfortunately, we do not have one in a 70-inch length. We apologize for the inconvenience.
