I have an FMI see through gas fireplace and I want to tile/rock the whole fireplace wall (which is made out of Durock) including about 4 of the 6 inches around the fireplace unit itself so as to leave a 2 inch metal reveal around the whole fireplace. Is this adhesive suitable for adhering the tiles to the metal of the fireplace?
    1 Answers
Our High-Temperature RTV Black Silicone Sealant would be what I'd recommend for this. This product will provide the elasticity needed for adhering tiles to the metal surface of a firebox. Typical mortar will crumble from the expansion of the metal facing and this product will expand and contract with the surface, keeping your tiles intact. The other option involves covering the facing with cement board and adhere the tiles with high heat thinset.
