If you are one of those people, Superior has perfected the beautiful and economic wood-burning fireplaces in their WRT/WCT2036 Merit Series. These give a "big box" look and have an oversize brick to brick opening. You can choose between clean-face and circulating models. Both come with a full, smooth white refractory panel, textured powder coat finish, and mesh fire screens. To make it easier to install, both are equipped with 8" pipes. Fan kits are also available for circulating models only. Yes, however, the manual states: This fireplace is approved for use as a wood burning fireplace or for use with a vented gas log approved to ANSI Z21.60 or Z21.84 standards or for use with a vent-free gas log heater approved to ANSI Z21.11.2 standard. An IHP hood must be installed when using a vent-free log heater
The 2/10 regulation is separate. It states that the termination point must be at LEAST 2 feet high then ANYTHING within a 10-foot radius (this includes the roof itself). These are two separate but equally important codes.
