Is there a fan that is built in that we need to control? Should we get the thermostat? What exactly do we need to order for a safe and complete installation?

Yes, there is a blower included that is connected to a heat-activated sensor. A thermostat is an optional accessory for the optional forced air kit. This unit requires 6 inch insulated Wood Burning Class A chimney for operation. Elbows can be added to offset as needed.

Rob D. from Las Vegas NV (City Limits) not county asked:
Can the fireplace doors be left open during use, and does this model meet EPA Phase II standards?
Can the fireplace doors be left open during use, and does this model meet EPA Phase II standards?
The Superior WRT3920 must be operated with the fireplace doors fully closed at all times. Operating with the doors even partially open can create a fire and smoke hazard by drawing flames and gases out of the firebox. This fireplace is EPA certified under the current 2020 NSPS wood heater emissions standard, with a tested particulate emission rate of 1.7 grams per hour, which significantly exceeds the EPA Phase II limit of 7.5 grams per hour for non-catalytic wood heaters.
