How far from the shielded wall must the unit be?
The manufacturer does not list shielded wall clearances; only combustible wall clearances. This is mainly due to the appliance requiring a certain air space around the perimeter of the stove. The minimum clearance that True North allows is 6" to the rear wall and 8" to the side wall when using double-wall stovepipe. When placed diagonally in a corner, using double-wall stovepipe, the rear corner of the stove to the wall can be no less than 3".

Joel B. from San Antonio, Tx asked:
Can this item be installed in a fireplace opening?
Can this item be installed in a fireplace opening?
This wood stove is designed to be installed in the living space of a home where air can circulate around all sides of the stove. The situation you are describing would be considered an alcove installation which requires large clearances around and above the stove to keep the appliance from overheating.
