I am building an herb dehydrator for my business and am considering using this wood stove as a heat source. I need to maintain a consistent temperature of about 140°F. Can you estimate how hot this stove would get in a 10x6 shed, assuming it is vented to the outside?
This stove features a manual door damper for heat output adjustment, not a thermostat, meaning it cannot maintain a fixed temperature autonomously. The operator would need to monitor the stovepipe temperature and manually adjust the air intake. We do not have a published BTU rating or heating-area rating for this stove, as it is designed as a portable camp and tent stove, not a whole-space heating appliance. Therefore, we cannot confirm the steady temperature it would produce in a 10x6 enclosed shed.
The owner's manual for this stove specifies the following minimum clearances for enclosed installations: 36 inches from the back wall, side walls, and corners; 60 inches above the stove to the ceiling; and it must be placed on a non-combustible floor. It also requires a minimum 20 square inch fresh-air opening for combustion air, even with an external vent pipe. The stove is intended for outdoor use or installation in a canvas wall tent with a proper stove jack, and its use in a wood shed as a fixed structure is not addressed.
