How do you operate the shaker grate to allow ashes to fall into the ash pan?
To operate the shaker grate, work it gently with a few short cranks rather than excessive agitation. The objective is to dislodge a small amount of ash so it falls into the ash pan without disturbing the fire above. Cease shaking once you observe a glow in the ash or the first red coals begin to fall into the pan. Over-shaking can waste fuel and expose the grate to excessively high temperatures, potentially leading to warping or burnout. For complete operating details, please refer to the SR57E Owners Manual.
