Great Fireplace so far!

My house is just shy of 1900SF and I was skeptical that this would heat the house. My non EPA fireplace I tore out was physically bigger and would not bring the house temperature up no matter how many trees I threw at it. I have a non epa stove in my shop That will no heat my foam insulated building at the rated SF listed on the stove. I am amazed how much heat I get and how much less wood I go through. I used to go through over a wheel barrow a day, now it will last 3 days with 10X the heat. I am sure this is true with all the EPA stoves but I can verify this one. This is the first time I had to throttle down a fire because the area was to warm

Pros

Price. This is priced better than others that seem to be the same like, kind, quality. I do not have the more costly models in front of me but this unit is constructed well and is stupid heavy. I see this lasting a long long time. Heat. You get a lot of it (good for my 1900SF open floor plan house) Efficiency. I use far less wood than my old open fire place and get more way more heat. Looks. The wife likes the look of this fireplace, so I like the look of this fireplace. Zone heating. I took advantage of a 6" duct hole from the side of the air box and ran 40' of R8 flex vent pipe, Thermaflex, which is rated for the required 250 degrees and ran it to my bedroom. I used a blower from amazon rated for temperature. This really does warm up the bedroom! The way I did it saved $400 compared to the price of their "kit"

Cons

Included blower is noisy. Again, I do not have other models to compare it to but at the lowest setting you can hear it across the room. At high you are turning the TV up 10 notches. Blower controls are behind the faceplate. As of now I use a butter knife to go through the faceplate to control it. I will probably do some re-wiring in the future to move controls away from the unit. This is just dumb. Hidden controls look to be standard across the board. This unit has an Auto switch, a temp switch in bottom of unit that takes over an hour to hit temp and 18 hours with no combustion to turn off. All they have to do is give you a control knob with an extended shaft to go through the vents to the controller, you could slip it on to use it, take it off when not in use, like old gas fireplace keys. I guess engineers don't get out of their office much to talk to dumb guys like me... A small run in the paint on the door and a few hidden paint chips in the face plate. This is probably an area they overlook to be able to sell it cheaper than others. Nothing is bad enough to contract the manufacture or do anything about, I would have to show you to see them.
