A fireback helps to protect your fireplace and to make it more efficient at heating your room. It protects the back wall of the fireplace and reduces maintenance and repair costs. It absorbs heat from the fire and radiates it out into the room, increasing the heating capability of your open fireplace. The lovely fleur de lys design lends a classical touch to the look of your hearth. The dimensions of this item are approximately 20" W x 16" H and it weighs 33 lbs.

Yes, if you wanted it to stand upright. Or you can lean firebacks on the rear of the fireplace.

The feet provide stability for the fireback, instead of simply lying it in the back of the firebox, leaning against the back wall.

Ideally, the fire back will indeed be positioned to lean so that heat is reflected upward and out into the room.
