We have a wood burning stove that has a cast iron door with a glass window. Would we have more heat if the glass window was gone and we had a solid cast iron door?
By eFireplaceStore on January 2, 2015
Not necessarily. Stoves that have glass and stoves that don't will only offer a marginal difference in heat output. Stoves with glass allow radiant heat to pass through the glass and heat objects to the room, while solid cast doors absorb heat and then release the absorbed heat to the room. As such, they accomplish the same task by different means.
