We have a gas fireplace starter that is a long metal pipe with holes that turns on with a key. Do we need to buy a kit or a grate and just the logs?

Answer:While using a purpose designed gas log burner will yield a better appearance, it is possible to use a standard log grate and refractory gas logs in conjunction with a log lighter.

The gas burner under my grate and fake logs does not work efficiently. This is connected to a natural gas source. I also need the burner under the grate with some kind of automatic on/off control. Do you have something like that?

If you are simply looking to replace the burner and valve, we will need to know the front width, rear width and depth of your fireplace opening. Please note that the Gas Log Burners
we offer are really only made as replacement burners for Real Fyre vented gas log sets, so positioning your existing logs over a Real Fyre burner may produce soot.
Also, this suggestion is only acceptable and safe if you have an existing wood burning fireplace with vented gas logs installed. If you have a gas fireplace, gas fireplace insert, or ventless system, you would not be able to use a vented gas log burner to upgrade your existing system.
