What is profile wood?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on October 22, 2013
Answer:Profile wooden mantels are designed to be affixed to the wall with minimal projection. Usually, the mantel legs will only project by 1 to 3 inches, although the shelf will be deeper.

I am planning to purchase a mantel. How do I know which one is a match for my fireplace?
By Chris C. on August 22, 2014
Answer:If there is a data plate located on the fireplace, we can locate the mantel clearance requirements allowing us to recommend several mantels that would fit the dimensions needed. If no data plate can be found, please reply with the overall fireplace width as well as the height from the floor.

Do you sell hollow wood mantle shelves? I need approx 4" x 8" x 7 feet.
By Chris C. on July 28, 2014
I believe that the unit we have closest to the dimensions needed would be our Pearl Mantels 412 Shenandoah
as it is hollow, but the longest length available is 72".

Our fireplace is 27 inches high x 34 inches wide. What size mantle should I buy?

I am a custom audio video contractor looking for a fireplace mantel that I can install that would allow for me to run wires for a television when mounted above a fireplace. I run into this problem very often and feel this could be a great product to have available if it is not.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 5, 2012
We do offer some mantel shelves that use a hollow, boxed beam setup for this very purpose. A good example is the Pearl Mantels Shenandoah Mantel Shelf - No. 412
. However, I am assuming you are looking for a mantel with legs that would allow you to route your cabling up from the floor? Unfortunately, I am not aware of a mantel that has a hollowed out leg for this purpose.
You are correct that this would be a great product to offer, especially with the current trend of mounting televisions above fireplaces.

I have a wood burning fireplace that is 43 1/2 inches high and 49 inches wide. I am looking for a fireplace mantel surround for it. What would you suggest?
By eFireplaceStore on October 14, 2014
Because of the relatively tall height of your fireplace opening, you will likely need to use a mantel in conjunction with plinth blocks to raise it high enough. An example of a popular model is the Pearl Mantels 110 Williamsburg Unfinished Fireplace Mantel
. The plinth blocks could be used in conjunction with the 50 inch wide model to give good proportions.

I have a Napoleon gas fireplace that measures 36 inches. Limited space of 57 inches is the maximum I can do for the top of a mantle. I am looking for a flush mantel of wood finish. Can you help me?

I have a wooden shelf attached to a stone (not flat) fireplace wall. There's a small gap on top and on the sides but not underneath. What should be used to seal the two? A shiny type of white caulk is there now. Would mortar be better?
By eFireplaceStore on June 3, 2016
Answer:I would definitely recommend the use of a Portland Cement based mortar to match the color of the existing stone used within the wall. Most home improvement stores will carry both the mortar and various bottles of mortar dye that can be added to achieve the desired end color.

I'm looking for a mantle with legs in the wood. I need the top shelf not to exceed a length of 67 1/2 inches and the overall length to the hearth around 50/52. Any suggestions?
By eFireplaceStore on August 29, 2014
Likely the best mantel for your application will be the Pearl Mantels 110 Williamsburg Unfinished Fireplace Mantel
. The shelf width of 64 inches and overall height of 52 inches seems to fall well in line of your requirements, but I am not certain if the overall outside leg width of 60 1/2 inches will be a problem. Unfortunately, every surround we carry that is narrower at the legs has a larger shelf that exceeds the 67 1/2 inch width.

Do you have a mantel cabinet that would fit a Mendota dxv45?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on December 10, 2012
Answer:We are not a Mendota dealer, so we do not have any mantels that are made for their models. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I see that your MDF or wood fireplace surrounds provide "interior" mantle specifications. We need a finished height of 51" including the mantle. Can you tell me what surround options are available for me?
By Will M. on March 10, 2015
Items like any of the Agee Woodworks Mantels
provide charts just below the product picture that show the distance from the interior height to the top of the mantel shelf. One such option would be the Agee Woodworks Barkley Fireplace Mantel
if you were to select an opening height of anywhere from 34 to 40 inches. The chart shows that you would simply add 11 inches to the opening height to determine the height of the mantel shelf.
