You don't have to bundle up and trudge out to your garage every time you need more firewood. Our log baskets and wood holders can provide you with a convenient way to store firewood right by your fireplace, saving you time and effort. And, of course, a log holder will help you avoid being stuck in the cold, which is what motivated you to get a wood burning stove or fireplace in the first place.
What household agents can clean the inside soot from a fireplace?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on September 12, 2013
Aside from specialty hearth cleaners, SC Johnson's Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner works well to remove soot. The interior of the firebox will need to be rinsed down thoroughly with water to prevent any harmful fumes from being released.

How do you measure for a new screen? Does the old one just slide off?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on October 26, 2012
For hanging screens, it would be best to measure the width and height of the individual screen panels, as this is how the replacements are advertised. Some screens include the approximately 1/2" of height added by the hanging screen rings.
Remove the screen by loosening and removing the screw in the center of the screen rod. This should allow the screen rod to be pulled out of the fireplace and the screens to be removed.
