I live in Dallas Texas. Your prices for gas logs are better than any store in Dallas. If I purchase Peterson logs through your website, will a distributor from Dallas install them or do I have to purchase the logs through them?

Usually, local distributors of gas logs will not install a product that they do not sell. It is unfortunate, but more often than not, this is the case. However, the installation can be performed by any licensed plumber, as the procedure is no different from installing a wall heater or furnace. If you have a local plumbing company that works with gas, they should be able to complete the installation without a problem.

I have an Osburn G2B direct vent LP gas free standing fireplace that I would like to horizontally vent. It has an inner pipe that is 3 in. and a 6 in. outer pipe diameter. Could I adapt it to the 4 in. x 6 and 5/8 in. Direct vent pipe?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on January 28, 2014
Unfortunately, the vent piping that Osburn made specifically for this model is no longer being produced. After speaking to technical reps at Simpson Duravent and Selkirk, they confirmed that an adapter is not made by them to convert to more standard sizes of vent pipe. The only other option would be to have a custom adapter manufactured by a metal shop. However, if the installation is being inspected for code compliance or insurance purposes, it may not pass. I apologize that I cannot procure the original parts.

We are currently sitting down with a builder designing home plans and want to incorporate a wood burning fireplace onto the deck in the back of the house. Actually, it is going to be a screened in porch. It has to be on a deck because the house will have a walk-out basement. How and what kind of wood burning fireplace can we utilize?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 5, 2014
Any of our outdoor wood burning models are able to be placed upon a combustible surface. The deck will need to be reinforced to deal with the weight of the unit, chimney, and the veneer you will use to encase the system. A very popular model that we carry is the Vantage Hearth Laredo 36 Inch Outdoor Woodburning Fireplace with Warm Red Stacked Brick Liner. The stainless steel body of the unit ensures that it will not corrode in the outdoor air and the smooth face lends itself to being encases in a noncombustible surround of your choosing.
