Can this wood be painted or stained? I want to match the existing mantel frame.
Do you custom make selves? The frame around my fireplace is only 51" wide. The wall is only 53" wide. The distance between the top of the mantel frame & my wall-mounted TV is only 14" ... Any advice ?
By Kevin E. - Fireplace Specialist on February 28, 2012
Answer:This particular mantel is unfinished and can be painted or stained to the finish of your choice. We do not offer any custom sizes. Unfortunately, our mantels are only offered in the standard sizes of 48", 60" or 72". While a 48" unit would fit, it would not likely be aesthetically pleasing. It appears that we sadly do not have the perfect mantel for you at this time.

We have a brick fireplace with brick mantels - actually several of them - different sizes and I'm trying to find something that would go over the existing brick mantel.

We need a mantel shelf that we can mount onto a face-bricked fireplace. Does this mantel have some type of mounting bracket that is included?
By eFireplaceStore on February 9, 2015
Answer:This shelf does indeed have a mounting cleat that will first be attached to the brick, using masonry anchors and screws. The shelf itself is then dropped into position.

This says unfinished but when I get to checkout it says it's primed. I want to stain it and prefer it unprimed. Is this an option?
By Kevin E. - Fireplace Specialist on January 16, 2012
Answer:This item is indeed unfinished and is designed to be stained prior to installation. The primed mantel you're noticing may simply be our advertisement for similar items to this mantel.
