My question is about the shroud around a fireplace insert. I have an Ashley Insert and in the surround shroud, it had insulation in it until the mice tore it all out when it was stored in the garage. What kind of insulation do I need to use and where can I obtain it?
By eFireplaceStore on December 4, 2014
Answer:The insulation used in fireplace shrouds is nothing more than strips of unfaced fiberglass. This material is usually available in small rolls at local home improvement stores. It will usually be 2 to 4 inches wide and come in rolls approximately 20 feet long. The material is usually yellow in color with an adhesive backing.

I have a stand alone outdoor fireplace. Dimensions are 26" back width x 36" front width X 22" depth. I am figuring i will need a 30X16 grate but do I need stainless steel for outdoor?
By Kevin E. - NFI Certified Specialist on March 9, 2014
Answer:While a stainless steel grate is not required for an outdoor application, it is highly recommended. Standard cast or forged iron grates prove to quickly rust out outdoors.
