I want to remove a chimney and replace with something not requiring a chimney to use. Will this work?

You would use studs to frame an opening of 31 ¾ in. wide x 22 ¾ in. high x 9 ½ in.deep. The 22 ¾ in. high opening should include a level 31 ¾ in. wide x 9 ½ in.deep surface for the fireplace as the firebox is not secured in any other fashion.

The chassis of the fireplace is stamped steel with a glass facing. The logs are comprised of urethane, and other components within the fireplace are from plastics.

Great looking "fire"
Most real looking electric fire I've seen. East to install. I would like for it to have sound and a warmer heater, but overall a very good alternative to a real fire. Delivered in 4 days in perfect condition!
Overall realistic look
No sound. Minimal heat output

perfect replacement for old wood burning fireplace
This would be a perfect alternative for an old wood burning fireplace. But since our room is well insulated, we were unsure if will include the gas insert in our purchase since it would not be used often, but still we bought it since we can get the realistic looking fire even without heat. The heat is not too powerful though. I am not recommending this product if you are planning to insulate your room with this.

Great looking and a worth it choice!
Amazing and elegant looking fireplace. I am a meticulous person but this electrical fireplace satisfied my expectations. It tried the gas type but it just discouraged me, ending up buying this product. After renovating my house, I decided to buy this as my fireplace and it made happy and proud. The looks is just so elegant and it is easy to install.

Electric fireplace
We seriously need a fireplace that functions using electricity since we had some problems on the ventilation when we used a gas-run fireplace. We found out that dimplex had some good comments. Still we had doubt on this electical fireplace. But as soon as we have installed the product, we were surprised with its functions. The heat was just enough and the fire was realistic. Our visitors would not even believe that its electrical. This is a great alternative to a gas-run fireplace.

Splendid!
I did not have much expectations on this electric fireplace but my expectations were overrated by this superb product! We installed this with a glass bed to add some beauty in it. Quality wise, the temperature warming up the room was just enough and the fire looks realistic. The installation was finished just in 20 minutes. It can be a display or a centerpiece without turning it on. Honestly, I liked my previous fireplace, but it gives too much heat for the room, unlike this electrical fireplace that emits just enough heat for the room. I am planning to buy another one since my family love this!

You will really be satisfied when you purchase this product. The price made me skeptical at first, also with some negative comments included in the reviews that I have read. But I was wrong! When the dealer said that it heats 400 ft. of cubic space, it really does! The price is just worth it of the quality!

Satisfied with my purchase.
I am very pleased with my purchase of my Dimplex fireplace insert. It makes my living room more beautiful than before. I mainly bought it for looks. I even use it in the summer when I sit in my living room. Since our fireplace needed costly repairs anyway, we installed our electrical box right in the fireplace itself, making look even more realistic. I also put lava rock around the bottom. The heat is okay for warming one's backside. I am glad I bought it!
