Hello Bob, assuming you are using the DuraVent DuraTech 6-inch inner diameter system, here is a list of the essential items for a through-the-roof installation. Starting from your ceiling, the DuraVent DuraTech 24 Inch Square Reduced Clearance Ceiling Support Box - 6-Inch Inner Diameter is designed for through-attic and through-ceiling installations. It includes a trim collar, an integrated flue extension, and an insulation shield, functioning as a firestop. This box makes the transition from a DuraTech chimney section to interior stovepipe at the ceiling. You will need DuraVent DuraTech 6-inch inner diameter chimney pipe to extend through the attic and above the roof. We have sections available in various lengths, such as 6-inch, 48-inch, and 60-inch. For sealing the roof penetration, a roof flashing is required. To recommend the correct flashing for your roof, please provide your roof's pitch (e.g., 0/12, 6/12, 12/12, etc.). Once we have this information, we can suggest the appropriate DuraVent DuraTech All-Fuel Chimney Roof Flashing. A DuraVent DuraTech All-Fuel Chimney Storm Collar for 5 and 6-inch inner diameter pipes is also necessary to create a weather-resistant seal between the vent piping and the flashing. Finally, for the termination above the roof, you will need a DuraTech chimney cap. While the specific cap model depends on your overall system design, it is a critical component for completing the through-the-roof installation. Regarding fire-resistant silicone caulking, we recommend the Rutland High-Temperature 600 Degree RTV Black Silicone Sealant - 10.3 Ounce Cartridge. This sealant remains continuously flexible at 550 degrees F and intermittently at 600 degrees F for one hour, adheres to various materials, and meets several federal specifications. Bob W. from Elgin, OR 97827 asked:
I need a wood stove cathedral 4/12 metal barn thru the roof kit to fit between 2x6 purlins 16 OC with a double wall 6 ID pipe (2-6" X 48" Class A double wall pipe). I also need approximately 8 feet of 6" single wall black stove pipe, plus another 5 feet of 6" single wall black pipe on the top side of the double wall pipe. Is a flexible neoprene boot the best option for steel roofs? Thank you for your time. If I order from you, when would I receive it? My zip code is 97827.

Our standard DuraTech ceiling support boxes are 10" and 12", which may not fit perfectly between your 2x6 purlins spaced 16" on center. We recommend either framing around our 10" or 12" box to accommodate your specific installation.
