Product Details

Superior's 8-inch inner diameter class A chimney pipe provides excellent durability and heat resistance with its combination of galvanized and stainless steel construction. This wood-burning chimney pipe vents fireplace gases and smoke out of your home, while the outer pipe provides a cushion of cool air between the hot inner pipe and the structure of your upper floors and attic.
Please Note: This venting component is intended for use only with certain Superior/IPH wood-burning appliances.

I have a new, unused DESA/Vanguard VC42I fireplace. DESA is out of business, but I understand that 8DM chimney components are still sold under the Superior/IHP brand. Is this true, and can I purchase chimney components to install my Vanguard fireplace? Thank you.
Yes, Superior/IHP still sells the 8DM Class A chimney system, which we carry. However, this does not guarantee it can be used with your Vanguard VC42I. The 8DM is a proprietary Superior system listed for use only with select Superior/IHP wood-burning fireplaces, and chimney components from different brands cannot be mixed. Approval is solely determined by the fireplace installation manual. We cannot confirm if the 8DM is approved for the DESA/Vanguard VC42I. Please check the installation manual or the model and serial tag on your fireplace for the exact chimney system it specifies. Reply with the chimney brand and model, and we can then verify OEM components and recommend an approved alternative if they are no longer available.

No that is double walled pipe and it does twist lock together.

Overall good quality
Overall, this double wall pipe got the job done, although it didn't just snap together as it probably should have. Some of the interior pipe sections didn't lock together and would pull apart, so i had to bend the tabs better to get it to lock. Also it was difficult with some sections to get the outer pipe to slide together, especially when on a ladder or in an uncomfortable position in the attic. Ultimately, i got it all together, and seems it will work great. Just seemed too expensive not to install easier.
Also, two pipe sections arrived damaged during shipping. It was very quick and easy to get those replaced though.

All pieces did not fit and lock together without some work.
