I have a Superior model # xDVT6-RMNS natural gas fireplace insert with a standing pilot. On the wall are 2 switches, one starts the fire and the other turns on the fan. Pretty basic. I want to do away with the standing pilot to save fuel cost. Do you have a kit for my application or a list of your parts that I would need to convert my f/p over?
    1 Answer
That unit can not be modified from the milivolt valve that came with the unit.

Can this valve be installed in a manually started, natural gas fireplace(piezoelectric crystal, red button)? I'm getting tired of having to keep trying to start the unit.
    1 Answer
Due to the fact that this application would void out any information on the fireplace data plate connected to your fireplace, subsequently rendering any product safety testing void, you may only use the replacement parts listed in the product literature originally packaged with your fireplace. Unfortunately, there is no way to convert a standing pilot/millivolt fireplace to non-standing electronic spark ignition. The only way to have this type of functionality would be to replace the fireplace altogether.

Could I set this Dexen natural gas safety pilot valve with electronic ignition inside my fireplace or does it have to set outside of the fireplace?
    1 Answer
The valve is designed to be placed in the void space beneath the firebox floor. If your fireplace is not designed with this space, you will need to position the valve in a separate enclosure or cubby adjacent to the fireplace.

    from Dunkirk, MD asked:

    How does the pilot light?
    1 Answer
This is a replacement electronic gas valve that works in conjunction with your existing electronic control module. The module itself will have manual controls that send a signal to the spark ignitor, which will light the pilot and allow the main burner to come on. If the pilot does not light when the controls are switched on, you may have an issue with the pilot assembly or control module.

    Perfect fit!
I needed a replacement control valve .... A handy man thought he could replace this valve with a standard type valve...... So I had a fireplace with no control valve....... None of the local parts houses even knew about this type valve..... This company saved the day! It worked perfect..... Feel confident with this vender..
