Can I mount my tv above fireplace?

It is not recommended to install a television above a fireplace due to the heat from the fireplace damaging the electrical components of the television.

With a working fireplace, do I just slide this insert into the opening? Can I go back to wood if I was too?

If your existing fireplace is a functioning wood burning fireplace with a functioning chimney, you can retrofit that space with a gas insert. If you wanted to go back to wood burning after the fact, you would need to restore the wood burning fireplace to original condition, by removing the gas insert, vent pipe and gas pipe.
