Majestic Horizontal Termination Cap with Short Flue - For DVP Pipe Systems

A heavy black stain of that size above a direct vent gas termination is not normal. A direct vent gas fireplace that is burning correctly produces very little residue, so a 10-foot by 3-foot soot streak usually points to a combustion or service issue with the appliance itself, rather than with the cap. We recommend having the fireplace inspected and serviced by a qualified gas technician first, because no termination cap or accessory will stop staining that is caused by incomplete combustion.
