Please note that you've submitted a question in response to decorative logs that would not include the burner or any gas controls. In short, the difference between millivolt and electronic ignition (which is what the Intellifire Plus system is) is that a millivolt system has a standing pilot flame that must be lit annually prior to using the system and this standing pilot would remain lit for the colder months while the system is in use. The standing pilot flame would require all of the voltage needed to open and close the flow of gas to the burner for basic On/Off control with a wall switch or remote. With gas log sets, the electronic ignition of the pilot and burner is provided via batteries and this type of system will not have a standing pilot while not in use.
