what is the minimum distance between studs to install this thru the kit?

This kit uses a 24" length of rigid pipe that is not meant to be reduced, so 24".

I would be venting this through a concrete block wall, then up an existing chimney. When it goes up through the garage, it is double walled. But in the basement, it is a single 6" pipe through the wall and up through the garage concrete floor. Could I reduce it to 4" in the basement and still be safe?

The item you are asking about is a vent kit for a gas stove. So, no it can not be reduced.
