This Peterson Real Fyre AV-18 manual On/Off valve is C.S.A. certified and fits all Real Fyre burner systems. This AV-18 manual On/Off valve comes with extension and L-shaped handle. This valve allows for convenient manual lighting by enabling gas flow control at the gas log burner.

I have this exact valve and it failed when I tried to turn off the gas logs and I had a line shutoff. My question is what failed inside the valve? Do I need a whole new valve or can a plumber make the repair?
It is possible that a plumber could repair the valve, but perhaps more likely it needs to be replaced. We would indeed recommend having a professional come to evaluate the situation and make a diagnosis.

Is this valve to be mounted on the gas line stub just inside the fireplace?
This valve is meant to be installed directly to the Real Fyre burners we also offer and not meant to be installed as you describe. Your application may be possible, but the answer to your question will have to come from a locally-licensed plumber or gas fitter who is familiar with local code.
