Does this log lighter require a pressure regulator?
    1 Answer
With natural gas, a pressure regulator would only be needed if you had excessive pressure supplied to the hearth opening. In this case, a plumber or gas fitter may install a pressure regulator upstream of the log lighter. Please note that a pressure test to confirm the log lighter is being supplied with less than .5 psi is normally performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter after the proper diameter pipe fittings are run to the fireplace opening by this same technician. As such, I recommend contacting a licensed plumber or gas fitter for further consultation if pipe and a corresponding 1/2" pipe stub has not already been run into the fireplace opening.

What is the BTU requirement? Could I use two of them in one fireplace?
    1 Answer
Per the manufacturer, there is not a listed BTU requirement for this unit, nor is there a rating. It will simply need to be connected to a 1/2" N.P.T. pipe thread fitting. There is no reason why the incoming gas line could not be tee'd, in order for you to utilize a pair of these lighters.

Does the lighter have 10 holes on each side or just one side? Do they face forward or back? How does this effect or limit which side the plumbing enters from?
    1 Answer
This lighter will have gas ports on one side only and the ports will be intended to face the front of the fireplace. The lighter is tapped and threaded to accept a gas line from either the left or right side of the fireplace and is provided with a plug to cap off the unused side. This will allow for greater versatility during installation.

    Very nice item
My old starter (bar type with no legs) was starting to bend and I went with this one to replace it. This starter works much better. It sits nicely on the legs and is much quieter than the old one. You can not adjust the air for this one and the flame comes out bigger - the logs get going quickly and it's hard to tell the starter is on. The flames from the starter blend in with the fire
sturdy - I like the legs and the quietness of it a bit shorter then I would like

    Really heavy duty
This unit is very heavy duty. It also is raised above the bottom of the fire box and has a flange over the burner holes which should keep ashes out of them.

    Great starter
Using this in an outdoor fireplace. Great product. Easy to install. Very durable as advertised. The feet make it easy to clean ash from under it.
Solid Durable Gas holes covered enough for ash not to clog them Could connect two together to make 28” None

Best log lighter on the market
This log lighter is great. The legs prevent sagging and bending while the hood protects from debris falling inside. I was worried that it might be too tall to work with a standard log lighter line but it surprised me by being just right so I didn’t need any elbows. It was a bit shorter than the one I replaced but a 4 inch piece of pipe centered it perfectly in the fireplace.
Sturdy, protected from debris falling inside, legs to prevent sagging or bending over time. A bit shorter than I would have liked.

    Great lighter- easy to install
Works great. Works almost as well as the HearthMaster and looks slightly nicer and a tiny bit easier to install. Significantly more expensive then the HearthMaster. So nice product not the best bang for your buck.

    Easy Fix
With just a little muscle, a couple of pipe wrenches, and a new 1/2 steel nipple I spent about 20 minutes giving my fireplace some much needed service. Love those REAL wood fires!

    Perfect
Very Solid. Well constructed. Attractive. Pipe coming from side of fireplace must be about 1.5 inch to center in height and more or less straight otherwise the legs won't be even. And better placed toward the back as the flames come out the front as opposed to straight up
