What is the meaning of "vented"?
"Vented" means that you would leave open the damper in your fireplace so the burner can exhaust up the chimney. We would suggest reviewing our Gas Log Buyer's Guide

Can I add glass to my gas fireplace, if it has logs?
Glass media can be added to surround the burner assembly, however it cannot be applied directly over the log burner. Using glass media in place of the logs would require replacement of the burner assembly.
