This Draft Guard Cover provides exceptional draft protection for your fireplace. When you do not have a fire burning simply place the cover in front of the fireplace opening and it will restrict air flow through the chimney. This simple device keeps warm air in and cold air out! It measures 40 inches by 32 inches, and comes in a black powder-coated finish. The simple design is easy to install and remove when you need access to the fireplace. How well does this item close off the opening? Does it leave any air gaps?
This product stops a vast majority of back drafting and loss of room air up the chimney, but it is not gasketed. As such, there is not a perfect air seal. To achieve a perfect seal, a rope gasket would need to be added to the perimeter of the cover. Another option is to install a top mounted fireplace damper, such as the Lock-Top 8 in. x 13 in. Energy-Saving Chimney Damper. Top mount dampers are by far the most effective energy savers, as they seal against a level silicone gasket that is part of the damper assembly, as opposed to the uneven surface of a cast iron damper or the veneer surface of the fireplace facing.

Exactly As Described!
This product works well to keep the draft away from my fireplace. I do use a throw blanket to keep the hinged areas sealed off. Magnets are included that work great to hold the throw perfectly in place.
