Will this work with a "Preway 8 A" type pipe?
By eFireplaceStore on October 27, 2014
Answer:This cap can indeed by used in place of your original air cooled chimney cap. The collar on the vent cap can be compressed by hand and forced into the inner chimney wall. When released, it will spring out and hold in position via a tight friction fit.

Will this HomeSaver Pro 8" round chimney cap slip over an 8" pipe and cover my 14" outer double wall vent pipe?
By eFireplaceStore on May 21, 2015
Answer:It will indeed. The collar of this cap is designed to fit to 8 inch inner diameter piping and can cover up to a 15 1/2 inch outer wall.

Does this close down to prevent drafts?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 8, 2013
Answer:This cap has a built in collar to prevent combustion gases from filling the air cooled outer wall of the chimney, but it does not close down. Your manufactured fireplace should have a built in damper that can be used for this purpose.

I am replacing a chimney cap and spark arrestor. I currently have a 8”/10” double wall air cooled chimney. The double wall pipe extends 8” higher than the chimney cap (see enclosed pictures) and have a collar at the base. I live on a barrier island with a corrosive environment and potential for high hurricane winds. What would you recommend to replace the spark arrestor with stainless steel. The exposed 10” galvanized chimney pipe appears to be in good condition without rust. While I am installing a stainless steel chimney cap and spark arrestor should I also do something about this pipe?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on June 14, 2013
I appreciate the attached photos. For your air cooled chimney, I would recommend replacing the cap with a completely stainless steel version, including the spark arrestor.. The HomeSaver Pro 8 Inch Round Chimney Cap for Air-Insulated Factory-Built Chimneys
is such an item. It would be prudent to paint the exterior wall of the exposed chimney piping with a high temperature paint. This will help to ensure the pipe will not begin rusting, as your coastal location is likely wearing away at the layer of galvanization.

I have an air cooled double wall flue that is 8" inside flue and 12" outside wall. I purchased an 8" pro cap for an air insulated cap . There are 3 fins on the bottom and the flue fits but the fins hold the cap above the 12" outside wall leaving a 2" gap above the outside wall with no screen . Are the fins needed?
By Brennan W. on March 14, 2016
Answer:The fins at the bottom of the cap are indeed required, as they keep the cap from sitting flush on the pipe and blocking the air cooled section of the flue.

My home was built in 1984 and I need to replace the chimney cap on my Marco factory built fireplace as the cap is deteriorating. Will this Homesaver Pro 8" fit (see attached images)? Also, I am going to need a new storm collar and would like a recommendation for the proper size.

Will this fit a Majestic WM36A with a triple wall air cooled chimney 14"/11"8"?
By eFireplaceStore on July 21, 2014
Answer:This product can indeed serve as a universal replacement for the original cap that was used with all triple walled Majestic chimney systems.
By Mike from St Paul on July 21, 2014
Answer:This is the most versatile and solid 'universal' air insulated chimney cover we have ever seen. I do not have a visual image of your chimney, but I see no reason why it would not fit nice and snug.

I have a three wall metal chimney system, 8" inside pipe, that is about 30 years old. I don't know the brand name. Would this HomeSaver Pro 8 inch round chimney cap for air-insulated factory-built chimneys be compatible for my system?
By Chris C. on December 17, 2015
Answer:The Homesaver cap in question will indeed work for most prefabricated air cooled chimney systems with an 8" inner diameter. Prior to ordered, I would ensure that the outermost pipe is not greater than 16" in diameter.

It looks like the top of this is held on by a wingnut, which in turn is held in place by the strap you see over the opening. Does that strap come off easily for cleaning? If it does not, it would be impossible to get a brush into it for cleaning. Cleaning from the insert going up is not an option.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on September 10, 2013
Answer:The lid strap is indeed removable for cleaning purposes. It is held in place by a pair of metal screws with a nut driver.
