Finding a suitable door or screen for your fireplace is
essential. Although having an open fire at times can be cozy, a door will
provide safety without losing the physical or visual warmth of the fire. A
fireplace door will also help to control the temperature. A mesh screen can be
used alone or in conjunction with a glass door to provide extra safety for your
fireplace. Different models of doors and screens are available for the specific
fireplace you have in your home.
I am looking for fireplace doors. The tag on the unit says I can only use GEK-36 doors, but I can't find them anywhere. Is there a new part number that replaces the old doors?

Unfortunately, these doors are no longer available. The last unit that used the doors was discontinued in 1986 and the doors ceased availability in 1992.
Majestic did release doors in the place of the originals, with a part number of GE364499900. However, these doors were discontinued in 2000, with no successor.
We have since depleted stock of the newer model of door as well. I apologize that I cannot obtain these parts any longer.

I am interested in adding fireplace screen doors on my fireplace. I cannot make out the model number except that it ends in 36. A plate on the right hand side identifies various Majestic glass door models. I have been unable to find any of these doors on the internet. The fire place opening is 36X24. Can you provide me with a model number or estimate for fireplace doors?

Based on the dimensions of your fireplace opening, the GEK36 door assembly would have been the proper doors for your needs. Unfortunately, these particular doors, along with their replacements, have both been discontinued for some time. There is currently not a set manufactured by Majestic that would go in the place of the originals. Other than having a customer door assembly made, the only other option would be to use a universal door enclosure with the unit. Because the enclosure mounts on the surrounding fireplace surface, the surrounding stone would need to be leveled, prior to installation.

My brick fireplace opening is 35.25" W x 29.25" H. Is that considered a small or medium opening?

Your dimensions are quite normal for a masonry fireplace. Are you looking for a door assembly? We have several options available for you. Please see our full selection of fireplace doors below:
We recommend using the search options on that page to search for glass door assemblies for masonry fireplaces. Use the "Brand" category to search, and you can find suitable door options in the Minuteman, Portland Willamette, Stoll and Thermo-Rite brands.

We are looking to replace the doors on our double sided fireplace. Apart from the size, is there anything else we that need to consider?
By eFireplaceStore on November 14, 2014
Sizing of the door assembly you have now and the size of the actual fireplace opening behind the doors is most crucial to know. From the photo, the set appears to be fairly standard, with bifold, non-gasketed glass panes.
