Can I purchase a heater unit to go with this fireplace?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 16, 2011
This unit is made as a visual effect model only. Napoleon does not currently offer an optional heater for this model.

Can this fireplace be recessed into a wall? Do you have any other fireplaces that are the long sleek ones that can be recessed, and how large are they?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 7, 2013
None of the electric linear fireplaces we carry can be recessed into a wall cavity. Because of the heat register that is built into the top of the unit, they must be mounted on the surface of the wall for safe heat dissipation.

Can the Napoleon EF39S without heat be installed in a wooden 2 X 4 wall?
By eFireplaceStore on January 16, 2015
This product can indeed be installed into a recessed wall opening. Page 10 of the product manual will cover the dimensions that need to be maintained when framing the wall.

Your description of the Napoleon EF-39S gives the actual dimensions and framing dimensions. What are framing dimensions? Please provide a sketch with a horizontal cross section. I am looking for a decorative fireplace (no heat needed) to insert in a wall recess of the following dimensions: 42"W x 41"H x 25"D.

Although this unit does look very good once it is installed, that installation should definitely not be underestimated. After a professional started the install (after multiple times reading the instructions), he needed to work almost ten hours to actually complete the job (not exactly the cheapest option). The directions state that the unit must be six inches deep into the wall in order to line up with the wall evenly, but once we actually got the wall open, we found an iron pipe. He had already built a frame for the unit before cutting into the wall, so much of his time was dedicated to making a completely new frame for the unit. After all of these installation issues were over, it turned out that we had a broken remote. Also, the fact that you have to completely remove the unit from the wall to replace a light bulb is a design oversight.
