No, as long as the required clearances are followed as outlined in the installation manual for your appliance.

Would I hang a non-combustible mantle before I do my stone work?
It is recommended to mount the mantel first, then cover it with seran wrap, and then install the stone up to the mantel. Remove the saran wrap barrier after the mortar and stone work is completed and cured.
