Customer Q&A with Product Specialists

Floyd from IN asked:
What is the difference between having a glass front or a screen? Is one better than the other?
What is the difference between having a glass front or a screen? Is one better than the other?
The difference would depend on the unit. It is largely a personal preference for wood pre-fab fireplaces. Although, doors can somewhat effect the burn time.

Do these screens protect against any pests that may get into the chimney, bats, birds or squirrels, etc?
Do these screens protect against any pests that may get into the chimney, bats, birds or squirrels, etc?
These are barrier screens that sit in front of the fireplace opening in the home. They are to arrest sparks and will not aid in keeping out pests. A chimney cap with a mesh screen will help with your issue.

We do not currently have any fireplace screens in stock that meet those specific large dimensions.

We use our fireplaces to partially heat our home. Will a glass screen decrease the amount of heat the fire is able to put out?

Glass doors do minimize the amount of heat in a room. If you are looking to maximize the heat while still offering spark protection, the best option would be a set of curtain-style screens.

About Fireplace Screens

A fireplace screen is a great accessory, no matter what kind of fireplace you have. Fireplace screens protect the fireplace surroundings from embers and ashes that may fly out of a wood burning fireplace or add a decorative flare for gas fireplaces. Made out of various materials, a fire screen that matches any aesthetic can be easily found. You can even choose between decorative fireplace screens and fireplace screens with doors!
