I have a new fireplace insert that is stainless steel.  The fire box is 42" will the above work for my fireplace?   Also what color option best match the stainless steel?

I need the 6" hood over my existing 4" due to excessive heat on my mantel.

    1 Answer
We would recommend either the satin chrome or polished chrome hood, depending on how your stainless steel looks.  You can see examples of these finishes in the thumbnail image below the main photo on this page.  This hood is fixed at 42" wide, so you may want to confirm your opening width is no larger than 42".

Can you help me understand the difference between lintel mount and surface mount? We have an open fireplace made of concrete. There is a TV mounted above it so we are trying to deflect heat away from going up and melting the tv. Thanks!
    1 Answer
Absolutely. The difference between the two is that the surface mount will mount directly onto the brick or wall above the fireplace opening, whereas the lintel mount will mount to what is called the lintel, but is essentially the top of your fireplace opening. If you click the links below, you will see diagrams showing how the two are mounted for further clarification: Lintel Mount Surface Mount

Hello, I wanted to know what gauge and type of steel is this manufactured from? There is a lot of heat generated from my inset and I'm concerned about warpage from excess heat. Thank you.
    1 Answer
This is made from 18 gauge galvanized steel.

I have a 42 inch outdoor Carolina Ventless Gas Fireplace by Heat & Glo. It has stone built around and the front is basically flat, and the heat does not radiate out well at all, and the heat seems to go straight up. I was wondering if a hood might help the heat "roll out" or radiate out even a little bit more. What do you think? If possibly yes, I have attached some specs, one of which appears to show a 39 1/8 inch opening, but the fireplace is a 42 inch model. Would this one work? Also, would the 4" or 6" be better for my purpose? Also, would the lintel mount work, as I would rather use it instead of the surface mount? Thanks. John
    1 Answer
Yes that would help that issue. You can use either mount version you prefer. I would say the 6" would produce better results for you.

We own a 1800s New England home, the fireplace is 60in wide. Do you all carry a fireplace hood that wide?
    1 Answer
Unfortunately, we do not carry a hood that wide. I apologize for any inconvenience.
