Customer Q&A with Product Specialists
Brenda H.
from asked:
I have a Monessen 42 Artisan Vent Free and want to replace the glass. I see you offer a stone kit for this fireplace, but I prefer the look of Frye round ceramic fireballs. Are these compatible with my fireplace?
The Frye round ceramic fireballs are not approved for the Monessen 42 Inch Artisan Vent Free fireplace. Vent-free burners are engineered for a fixed, approved media configuration, and the Monessen Artisan installation manual states that only approved parts may be used. Unapproved media can obstruct proper combustion, leading to sooting, odors, and carbon monoxide from incomplete combustion. Approved options include the crushed glass media supplied with the unit and the Monessen Stone Kit for Artisan Fireplaces. You can review approved media and placement instructions in the Artisan installation manual.
