    Is this suitable for outdoor use in a covered (rainproof) lanai area?

    No, even a covered porch would be considered an "outdoor" installation, and this model is not approved for such an application.  However, Napoleon does offer the Riverside 36" model for such use.  You can find others in our outdoor fireplaces section here. Please note that some of those units are woodburning and some are electric.

    Does this come with a remote, thermostat, or wall switch to turn it on/off?

    The burner is built into the frame of the unit and the log set is included. The fireplace has a rocker switch to turn the unit on, but you can add a thermostat or wall switch to control the fireplace, as well.

    This unit does not come with a blower, but it is available as an option. You can see the blower here. You can use any light switch with millivolt wire as a wall switch. You can also use any millivolt thermostat like this.
