If you are looking to keep costs down and want maximum efficiency, I recommend considering a ventless natural gas fireplace as these would not require any additional vent components to be ordered and installed. Additionally, purchasing a direct vent fireplace would require sizing up in order to heat the space required to account for lower efficiency. If you do not mind having a manually-lit standing pilot system that would only turn the burner flame Off and On with one of the control options I'd mentioned, this would be a millivolt aka standing pilot system and would be the more affordable option. If you were wanting something with no standing pilot that uses house voltage to spark the pilot with a battery backup, this would be an IPI/Electronic Ignition w/ battery backup system and would be the only option should you want the ability to control the flame height with an remote.
