My existing chimney is using 8" pipe, but the Empire Tahoe requires smaller pipe. Is there any connector I can use to make it work?
I want a see-thru, vented, natural gas 36" fireplace. Can you recommend one that will use 8" pipe?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on November 6, 2012
Answer:Generally, direct vent units will use a 4 x 6 or 4 x 7 vent pipe system. Some larger units use a 5 x 8, but we do not carry a see-thru model that is large enough to require this size of piping.
Nevertheless, we do stock several adapter kits that will allow you to convert your existing 8 inch piping for use with a direct vent appliance.

Does this type of fireplace need a chimney or could it be piped outside?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on February 8, 2013
Answer:Yes, this unit requires coaxial (pipe-within-a-pipe) direct vent pipe. You can see the appropriate vent kit and pipe parts in the "Venting Components" tab above. It is possible to rear vent this unit horizontally directly through a wall or run the pipe vertically, depending on your application.

I'm looking to install a two sided fireplace in a wall that already has a brick chimney that I'd like to continue to use. What would I need to vent this fireplace with that setup?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on May 16, 2013
Answer:Before we can determine what venting components you'll need, you need to determine the following: Venting of the unit will depend primarily on the proximity of the fireplace to the chimney and how large the chimney flue is. Are there any existing openings in the chimney? What are the dimensions of the inner flue?

I have a DVP-36-SP32EN see through gas fireplace, and I wanted to know which frame I should order. Which one is compatible, the DVF-36-BL or DBE-36-SBL? What is the difference in material of this product?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on January 20, 2014
Answer:Both perimeter frames are compatible with this unit. The DVF-36-BL is a basic steel frame with beveled corners, while the DBE-36-SBL is an extruded aluminum version that features additional detailing and an anodized finish.
