I was looking to replace thirty year old heater and settled on this product. My tenants have seen it and they are very thrilled with its appearance.

Keeps Home Warm
September 11, 2012
My house was built in 1884, and what is quite remarkable is that this unit is able to keep it warm, and do the job in an extremely effective manner. The only detraction to speak of with regards to this device is that it doesn't necessarily heat in a manner that I prefer. We build a stainless steel cage to surround it and prevent our pets from touching it.

Very Sleek Look
April 1, 2012
This unit is more than capable of keeping an apartment heated. I was looking for a unit that had a much higher heating capacity than the previous unit possessed and settled on this one.

This unit is extremely easy to install! It took around a half hour to do so, and it is able to easily heat my office (which is approximately 1200 square feet.)

Empire Is Quality
March 24, 2010
I should say at the outset that I have had many very positive experiences with empire products. I am quite pleased to report that this item is definitely no exception. I have installed it in a large apartment, and every time it has been fired up to keep the facility at a comfortable temperature, it has managed to do so with the greatest of ease. I chose this item because the apartment itself has an unusual layout that makes it impossible to install a standard unit. Thankfully, this has managed to do a good job and my tenant is quite happy with the results.

What are the requirements for space around this heater? What kind of material does it need to be surrounded by?
By eFireplaceStore on August 12, 2014

This unit requires an overhead clearance of 55 inches, side clearances of 6 inches, and an 18 inch clearance to the wall for servicing. The unit can sit directly upon a combustible floor and can be surrounded by combustible wall board. No additional fireproofing is required.

Is the Empire RH50CB closed front gas room heater completely sealed from the room atmosphere?

By eFireplaceStore on September 15, 2014

This unit is only partially sealed. Warm air is pulled from around the sealed combustion chamber and circulated into the room. However, the unit requires room air for combustion and as such, the combustion chamber does have air intake ports. Only direct vent room heaters are completely sealed and have no effect on the indoor air supply.

Can this unit be vented out through a six inch flue pipe which is about 45-50 inches high? Also does the fan come on when the unit lights?
By Kevin E. - NFI Certified Specialist on August 27, 2013

This appliance requires the use of rated B-Vent chimney pipe. The unit must be vented up and out of the home with the termination at least 3' above the roof. We can build a quote for these venting components, if you'd like.
