Once you've installed a gas log fireplace, it's important to have the correct chimney to ensure a system that works properly. The SecureVent Rigid Direct Vent Pipe features a strong aluminized inner wall and galvanized steel outer wall that maintains its shape under pressure. The inner pipe floats within the outer shell through the use of metal brackets, providing a cushion of air between your fireplace's hot exhaust and the direct vent chimney pipe framing. The secure Snap-Lock twist connections create an airtight seal three times tighter than the industry standard.

Can I cut off 3 inches from the length, and slip into termination like the 6 " that comes with it?
This pipe is not meant to be cut. SecureVent also offers a 6" pipe length and a 2"-7.5" adjustable pipe length that may be needed instead.

How close can the outer pipe be to contact with the wood framing?
When this pipe is running vertically, the clearances are 1" in all directions. When running horizontally, the clearances are 1" to the sides and bottom and 3" from the top of the pipe.
