Customer Questions & Answers

We have a Monessen Hearth system but I'm not sure which model (DL18, DL24, DL28) according to the instructions but I do know the remote says Acumen Model No FDC-501. The remote and its related receiver do not seem to be working together anymore though we can still turn the fire on with the receiver at the 'ON' position and turn it off as well. The remote setting no longer seems to work. What remote and receiver combo is likely to work for us?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 19, 2013

Answer:
Per the manufacturer, the Acumen RCK-I is an exact replacement to your existing FDC-501. It is likely that either the RF transmitter or receiver is bad. This would explain why the receiver still works manually.

I need to replace an RCK-K remote control kit. See pictures for the receiver and transmitter I have. The difference between RCK-I vs RCK-K seems to be the thermostatic functions. What are these functions?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 18, 2014

Answer:
Based on the appearance of your current remote, it appears you have an Acumen RCK-K, badged for Regency. The RCK-I is a simply on and off remote, which also displays room temperature. The RCK-K allows you to switch back and forth between manual and thermostat modes. The RCK-K also has a clock and timer built in as standard.

How can I test the receiver? It won't beep when I try to sync it up with the remote after changing the batteries.
By Will M. on May 23, 2016

Answer:
You should remove the batteries from the remote, move the slide switch on the receiver to the Off position, wait for one minute and move the slide switch to the remote position. With fresh batteries in the remote and receiver and the receiver slide switch in the remote position, pressing a button on the transmitter should produce an audible beep. If not, it is likely that the system should be replaced.

I have an Acumen RX05 remote control and the receiver unit has failed. It will not work in remote or manual modes, but when I put the battery pack directly to the valve wiring, I can hear the valve make it's normal click (gas line is off). So I believe I need a replacement remote. Is the RCK-I a direct replacement for the RX05?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on January 2, 2014

Answer:
While this RCK-I will certainly work for your fireplace, it may not be a direct replacement for your current remote kit. The RX05 receiver is the part Acumen uses on any millivolt gas valve remote kit, but the features of those remote kits vary. This RCK-I is a basic on/off remote with a room temperature display. If that fits your needs and preference, then this will work as a replacement.

I have a 15 year old Monessen "Peninsula" style 36" wide, two burner fireplace operated by an "Acumen" remote. My receiver & remote look very much like the ones pictured as the RCK-1. My handheld thermostat no longer turns the logset on or off. The logset functions very well manually. Will the RCK-1 work with my logset?
By eFireplaceStore on February 15, 2016

Answer:
The current Acumen remotes will work in place of your current model. You mention that the current remote has thermostat control. If that is indeed correct, you will be interested in the Acumen RCK-K Manual On/Off and Thermostat DC Remote Control Kit as a replacement. It keeps the same thermostat functionality.

I need to replace my Acumen RX05. Do they still make this, or what model can replace it?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 4, 2014

Answer:
The RX05 receiver was used with several millivolt remote systems. The current remotes that are a direct replacement are the RCK-I that you are viewing now and the Acumen RCK-K Manual On/Off and Thermostat DC Remote Control Kit, which adds thermostatic control to the remote.

What are the dimensions for the heat shield of this Acumen RCK-I manual on/off DC remote control kit? I have limited vertical clearance to install this easily.
By Will M. on December 22, 2015

Answer:
When the heat shield is installed upon the receiver, the height is 1 3/4 inches. If there is not enough height to make the receiver fit with the heat shield and the area regularly exceeds 150 degrees, you should consider relocating the receiver to a wall mounted switch box, as damage can result.

I have an Acumen RX 05 receiver. It needs to be replaced. What options do I have?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on November 11, 2013

Answer:
The remote and receiver assembly must be replaced as a complete pair. The model you are viewing now could serve as a replacement, as could the Acumen RCK-K Manual On/Off and Thermostat DC Remote Control Kit, which offers thermostatic functions.

I have an Acumen model RX05. Will this remote replace it?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 4, 2014

Answer:
This model is indeed a direct replacement for the systems that used the RX05 receiver. A thermostatic version, the Acumen RCK-K Manual On/Off and Thermostat DC Remote Control Kit, can also be used.

I have an Acumen RX-05 that needs to be replaced. Can you tell me which model I'll need to replace it?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 14, 2014

Answer:
The model you are viewing now can serve as a direct replacement for your existing remote. If the version of the remote system you have also offers thermostatic control, the Acumen RCK-K Manual On/Off and Thermostat DC Remote Control Kit will be the direct replacement.

The first unit I purchased did not work. However, the people at eFireplaceStore were very helpful and advised me of possible remedies that unfortunately didn't work. So they sent me a new one and it works fine without any issues. Product - so/so but service A1.

This replaced a broken remote controller. This replacement is a much better quality unit than the original. I am very happy with the product, the info provided on the website and the speed of delivery. The price was right also.
