I see that the Tahoe Deluxe model comes with heat-resistant tempered glass - Is this meant to be used by first removing the glass then installing the barrier screen with doors?
No. The barrier screen and door frames are installed over the front of the solid glass panel on the Tahoe Deluxe models. That glass panel cannot be removed during operation of the fireplace, so it must always remain in place. These door overlays are decorative only and do not replace the glass. The purpose of the safety barrier is to prevent direct contact with the glass front, which can cause burning when contacted when the fireplace has been in operation for a while.

Will this fit a 36" wide X 21.5" tall opening?
No; this kit is a decorative front that will only work with the Empire Tahoe Deluxe 36" louvered direct vent gas fireplaces.
