If I have one side inside and the other in a covered screened porch, will I loose heat into the porch? And, if so, is there a away to close it off when not using it on the porch?

When installed, the conversion kit for exterior use provides a fully-sealed, weather tight glass viewing area for the exterior portion of the home. You will have to also purchase and install the Superior/IHP Conversion Kit for Venice Lights 43" See-Thru Fireplaces - Indoor Use
. As the panes of glass for the exterior conversion are fixed, there would be nothing to close when not in use. Also, we have sold many of these models with an exterior conversion and have had no complaints of heat loss, as there is no air exchange with the indoors (or your covered porch) with a fully-sealed direct vent fireplace.

Is this the kit that I need to have an indoor view and an outdoor view of the Venice Lights fireplace? Do I still need the vent pipe in this application or does it vent outside through the conversion kit? Is the conversion kit air tight to prevent heat loss?

There are a pair of conversion kits needed to convert to an indoor/outdoor see through application for this model. In addition to using the air tight outdoor kit you are viewing now, the FMI Conversion Kit for Venice Lights 43" See-Thru Fireplaces - Indoor Use
is also needed. This kit makes the unit a see through model, while the outdoor kit seals over the first kit to make it air tight and weatherproof. The unit requires the venting in all configurations.

Does this kit include glass?
By eFireplaceStore on February 3, 2015
Answer:It does indeed. The kit will come with the required gaskets and fasteners, as well as the glass.

Does the fireplace need to be vented after installing this conversion kit? One side will be in a screened porch and the other will be facing the deck. Can you help me?
By eFireplaceStore on August 7, 2014
Answer:The same FMI venting system will need to be used, regardless of the configuration of the unit. The see through conversion kit for outdoor use simply weather proofs the unit and prevents cold air from bleeding back to the interior of the house. It also covers the perimeter of the standard conversion kit, which can degrade due to exposure to the elements.
