    Customer Questions & Answers

How many sticks are in this box?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on September 3, 2013

    Answer:
This creosote stick is an individual item and is not currently sold in box quantities.

By Bryan Hamilton from Baker, NV on December 25, 2012
    What are these made of?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 26, 2012

    Answer:
Active ingredients in this cleaner are trisodium phosphate and manganese acetate. Both ingredients burn cleanly and have an oxidizing effect on built up creosote, drying it out. This allows the dried, inert creosote to be more easily brushed.

How much of this product do I need? My chimney is pretty heavily coated.
By eFireplaceStore on February 22, 2016

    Answer:
For a heavy stage 3 buildup of creosote, it would be a good idea to establish a hot fire using only seasoned hardwood with a moisture content of 20% or less, then use 3 to 4 of the sticks over a few hour time period. Once cool, clean the chimney immediately after.

By John from Putnam County, NY on March 20, 2016
Because this creosote remover claims it is "formulated for airtight stoves" can this be used in a regular (open) fireplace or only an airtight stove or insert?
    By Will M. on March 21, 2016

    Answer:
This may indeed be used in any wood burning application.
