The unit has zero clearance to a wall from the rear of the unit, as it can be fastened to a wall. This unit does not have any type of remote control or automated ignition available.

Using ethanol, it will only reliably heat the immediate area around the fireplace and perhaps the room it is in, if it is a fairly small to medium-sized room.
